Kamloops’ 2010 World Masters Indoor Athletics Championships Announces Board of Directors and Logo Unveiling Ceremony
Kamloops, B.C.—The City of Kamloops in partnership with the Kamloops Track and Field Club will host the first World Masters Indoor Championship in North America on March 1-6, 2010.
Athletes both men and women, thirty-five years of age and above in five year age groups will compete in a full range of indoor track and field events at the Tournament Capital Centre such as running, jumping, throwing, and race walking. There will also be a half-marathon on Tranquille Road beyond the airport, an eight kilometre cross-country run at McArthur Island Park and a 10 kilometre race-walk on Schubert Drive. There is no qualifying standard so the event is open to everyone to participate.
The six-day event will attract an estimated 3,000 visitors to the City including athletes, coaches, medical staff, officials and families and will spend approximately $2.25 million during their stay.
Bob Cowden, a volunteer leader in many sporting organizations in the Kamloops region, will co-chair the championships, along with event & meet manager Judy Armstrong.

The official unveiling of the 2010 World Masters Indoor Championship logo will take place at the Tournament Capital Centre on November 13, 2008 at 4:45 p.m. Media and the public are welcome to attend this event.
