Even before the first starting gun went off in Osaka on Saturday, August 25, decision had already been made bearing on the future. Among other decisions the IAAF Council and the various Committees were newly elected.

The IAAF Masters' Committee will include the following members for the period 2007 to 2011:

Marina Hoernecke-Gil (ESP) and Bridget Cushen (GBR) as women representatives. The delegates confirmed Jim Blair (NZL), Danny Daniels (CAN), Vadim Marshev (RUS) and Dieter Massin (GER), who have been members of this committee since 1995. Newly elected were Rex Harvey (USA), Pierluigi Migliorini (ITA), Shigenobu Murofushi (JPN) and Dawei Wang (CHN).

Re-elected as Chair of the IAAF Masters' Committee was Cesar Moreno Bravo (MEX).
