British Masters M45 sets a new 800 World Record

Since reaching the age of 45 last November, Tony Whiteman quickly set out to lower the M45 Indoor 800 record, recording 1.52.96sec in Sheffield in February, well inside the current WMA listed 1.56.10 credited to Nicholas Berra USA in 2014.Competing for his club in the British League in Sheffield on 6 May, Tony set a new M45 World mark 1.53.40sec lowering the previous mark of 1.54.18sec set back in July 2005 by Saladin Allan, USA.

On Sunday 14 May Tony lined up with the U20/U23-ies and one other Senior at the British Milers series of time-graded races in Solihull. Chasing the pack that included Finlay Bigg, U20 son of Olympic 400mH gold medallist Sally Gunnell, Tony erased his own short lived mark with a new World Record time of 1.51.3sec. Both records are waiting to be ratified by WMA.

2008 Olympic and World discus champion, Gerd Kanter of Estonia, who is now aged 38 has thrown a 65.87m in Wiesbaden on 14 May.

British Olympic relay runner, Conrad Williams, has taken Rich Beardsellís British M35 400m 48.53sec set at the World Masters Athletics Championships in Perth last November. Conrad turned 35 in March and ran 46.97sec in Gainsville, USA at the end of April.
